أعلنت قيادة الجيش في بيان انه “بناءً على إشارة القضاء المختص وبعد توافر معلومات حول محاولة سفينة “Hawk lll” مغادرة المياه الإقليمية اللبنانية بطريقة غير قانونية، نفّذت وحدة من فوج مغاوير البحر بالاشتراك مع القوات البحرية والقوات الجوية في الجيش اللبناني عملية مطاردة وأوقفت السفينة المذكورة على مسافة حوالي ٣٠ ميلًا بحريًّا من الشواطئ اللبنانية”.

The Army Command announced in a statement that, “Based on the order of the competent judiciary and after information was obtained regarding an attempt by the vessel Hawk III to leave Lebanese territorial waters illegally, a unit from the Marine Commandos Regiment, in coordination with the Lebanese Army’s naval and air forces, carried out a pursuit operation and intercepted the vessel at a distance of about 30 nautical miles from the Lebanese coast.”
